    Project 52 : Week 18 - Evening

    Project 52 : Week 18 - Evening

Our evenings (heck, most of our days too) are filled with baseball most of the time. Both boys love being outside and playing sports with us and each other. On this night it was about to start storming any minute so we were out trying to make the most of the nice evening before the storms rolled again (yet again this Spring). Bryce and Scott were playing catch and Landon was on the deck shooting hoops. Bryce's baseball skills continue to amaze me and I love that he loves play
    Project 52 : Week 17 - Purple

    Project 52 : Week 17 - Purple

This photo might be a stretch on the prompt of "purple" since the flowers are more pink than purple and because they aren't even really the focus of the photo. But this was such a fun photo to take and told the story of our weekend. Scott put the boys up in the tree and I took photos from the ground but then I also climbed in the tree as well so that I could shoot them from eye level (see pic below). The leaves and flowers create beautiful bokeh in the background and you can

    Project 52 : Week 16 - New Beginnings

Even though he isn't in Kindergarten yet, Bryce was able to join the Coach Pitch baseball league this spring instead of doing the tee ball league again. He is SUPER excited to play "real" baseball now. It's the beginning of a long future on the baseball diamond I imagine! He's doing awesome so far keeping up with the kids just a bit older than him and really does want to learn to play the game well. Though he's sometimes hard to coach (especially from Daddy) he does listen an
    Project 52 : Week 15 - Leading Lines

    Project 52 : Week 15 - Leading Lines

Leading lines can be fun to find when shooting. Anything can be a leading line from the right angle. The idea with leading lines is to find a line and use it to "point" to your subject. It will lead the viewer's eye right to the focal point of the image. It's often fun to pair leading lines with framing and the rule of thirds like I did here to create an even more dramatic image. In this image I used Lightroom to edit and darkened the left side of the photo so the brightest p
    Project 52 : Week 14 - Trees

    Project 52 : Week 14 - Trees

When I made the list of weekly prompts I had to guess when to plan certain ideas. Of course "Pink" was near Valentine's Day but trying to estimate when the trees would blossom this Spring was a total guess. Early last week I was worried that I had missed the guess but then the trees popped out just in time this weekend. So I put the boys in spring shirts and took (read: dragged) them to the park to be my models. With a little encouragement and some playtime at the park first,
    Project 52 : Week 13 - Layers

    Project 52 : Week 13 - Layers

We can finally play outside!! The kids are loving it and I am enjoying shooting somewhere other than inside my house. And while the last day of March wasn't as warm as we would have hoped we still ventured outside in the evening. The kids played basketball, soccer and rode their bikes up and down the sidewalks. I love that Landon's outfit - pajamas with a hoodie thrown over the top, helmet and new tennis shoes. The ensemble perfectly demonstrates his personality and a perfect
    Project 52 : Week 12 - Animals

    Project 52 : Week 12 - Animals

Once upon a time we took our dogs to the dog park once a week. But now, two kids later, our dogs are lucky if they get to go once a month. I am sure {and hope that we aren't the only ones} others can relate to dogs kind of taking a backseat while raising young kids. They become just another "to-do" item on the long list. Wake up, get myself and the kids ready for school, let the dogs out, feed the kids...and the dogs, let dogs out again. Get kids and all their stuff loaded in
