Project 52 : Week 17 - Purple

This photo might be a stretch on the prompt of "purple" since the flowers are more pink than purple and because they aren't even really the focus of the photo. But this was such a fun photo to take and told the story of our weekend. Scott put the boys up in the tree and I took photos from the ground but then I also climbed in the tree as well so that I could shoot them from eye level (see pic below). The leaves and flowers create beautiful bokeh in the background and you can tell it was a nice sunny day. But Bryce is wearing a hoodie so it probably was still a bit chilly on this April morning. But isn't he just the cutest?!

A note about my settings and setup (shot in manual mode).

  1. Since it was mid-day with bright sun I first set the ISO super low to 160 because I did not need much light sensitivity.

  2. Because I only had one subject I set the aperture to 2.5. I didn't go any lower than that because I wanted his entire face in focus.

  3. The shutter speed didn't matter too much since we were both stationary so I just adjusted that until the exposure was correct.

  4. Not much was needed in post production - I just did my normal edits.
