    Project 52 : Week 32 - Reflection

    Project 52 : Week 32 - Reflection

Oh how each child if so different...what started with a punishment for Landon turned out to be a coveted task for Bryce. But, hey, I'll take it either way! Though the reflection is subtle in this photo I love the overall composition of it. The contrast of light and dark and his focused stare at the glass ensuring that he got every last mark cleaned, tell the story and his sweet personality always wanting to help out mama. A note about my settings and setup (shot in manual mod

Driving through Rocky Mountain National Park felt like we were exploring a different planet. Above the tree line, weaving around snow-capped mountain tops and taking in the beauty of the land and creatures was magical. And I couldn't help but wonder what it will look like 6 months from now; covered in snow and untouched by humankind because the roads will be closed. Exploring the vast differences within our own country with Scott is so fun. From the deserts of Phoenix, to the

The view from our rental house for the week of Grand Lake, Colorado was awesome! Nestled within the valleys of the Rocky Mountains, the small town sits on the banks of two lakes and giant 10,000+ peaks tower above. We explored several hiking trails in the area, ventured up to the 10,000 feet summit of Shadow Mountain and experienced the drastic weather changes throughout the day. From low 50s in the mornings to mid 80s in the afternoon with a random thunderstorm mixed in, and

When the stars align and magic happens! The right time of night. Paired with the perfect placement of the sprinkler. Add in a willing preschooler. And you get a fun series of photos to remember his carefree nature, his desire to get messy and his never-ending energy! And he was wearing red so it fits the prompt! haha A note about my settings and setup (shot in manual mode). I wanted to stay a safe distance from the sprinkler so I used my Canon 70-200mm f/2.8. This lens also c

An hour's drive north of Kansas City sits the Shatto Dairy Farm and a fun Saturday morning adventure away from the ordinary suburban life and routines. The family owned farm provides dairy products to store throughout the KC area and invites customers to their farm to see the behind the scenes actions. I woudn't say the boys LOVED it but they enjoyed the adventure and I think learned a thing or two along the way. And we couldn't leave without sporting a milkman hat! A note ab

    Project 52 : Week 27 - Patriotic

Someday the 4th of July will be enjoyable with kids, right?! Between the rain, the smoke and all the loud BOOMS, the boys were not in a very patriotic spirit this year. Most of our {short-lived} time doing fireworks involved this scene - at least one kid covering their ears and/or screaming. I think next year we will have to go to a festival and fireworks show instead and hopefully they will like that better. What does your family do? Is there an awesome Kansas City area show

    Project 52 : Week 26 - Off-Prompt

In case you didn't know, the amount of bubbles they give you in the bottle in essence makes the bubble gun a one-time use toy. LOL! At least with my 3-year old it does. But he was entertained and the light was magical so it was all good! The prompt this week was supposed to be morning. I originally chose this prompt so that I would be "forced" to document a part of our morning routine. But, alas, that did not happen. Mornings are so crazy it just wasn't going to happen. And w
