Being invited into a client's home to document their new family with a lifestyle newborn photography session is always a complete honor. And when their home is beautiful and filled with great architectual elements it makes for a fanastic backdrop. I had never been to this part of Overland Park before and it's a quiet little neighborhood.
Nicole and I had planned for a maternity session back in May but God had other plans. Miss Elsie decided she couldn't wait to meet her amazing parents and on the day our session was scheduled she made her appearance - at 31 weeks.
After a few weeks in the NICU she was thankfully released and the new family settled in to their new normal with their beautiful daughter. They invited me to their home when Elsie was 8 weeks old and doing well.
She worked hard for those chubby cheeks - just look at them!!
I love that Nicole and Eddie included their fur baby in their session too. Milo was so chill and didn't seem to mind to share the attention with his new sister.
Isn't her wrap and headband beautiful? They didn't find out the gender of the baby ahead and time and Mama wasn't sure she'd be one of "those" moms that dressed her daughter up in bows all the time - but she couldn't resist and now embraces it. I mean, how could you not?! There is so much cute stuff for baby girls!
Elsie needed a quick change and snack in the middle of the session and we were happy to oblige. Look at that photo of her milk drunk on mama!!! ....... SWOON!!
Since she surprised her parents by making her appearance early, her nursery isn't quite finished but it's coming along and is going to be such a cute travel theme. I love the personalized blanket handmade by a loved one just for her.
Elsie looks so small in her parents hands and all too soon she won't fit so nicely and will be running around her room. I hope these photos are treasured forever - documenting their sweet girl in these first few months at home.
