This was my second year having the honor to be the photographer of the MedTrakRx ProAm benefitting Folds of Honor. Like last year, the golf tournament was hosted at Milburn Country Club in Overland Park, KS and co-sponsored by MedTrakRx and Tria Health.
The event brings professional golf professionals from around the country together with individuals from local, regional and national companies to play in a ProAm golf tournament and enjoy a day filled with fun, festivities and comradery all while raising awareness and funds for the Folds of Honor foundation
The mission of Folds of Honor is "to provide educational scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service-members." It's a national organization dedicated to honoring the sacrifice & educating the legacy of these brave soldiers.
During the tournament, a scholarshop recipient is invited to tell their story and personally thank everyone involved in this fundraiser. This year a local Kansas City mother spoke at the event and told her story and how Folds of Honor has helped her family after losing their husband/father in a tragic helicopter crash.
This year all of the funds raised at the event will stay in Kansas City to help provide scholarships that would otherwise go unfunded. Since 2012, this event has raised over $400,000 and the 2018 total hasn't been finalized yet so it may hit the half million dollar mark!
The event is organized by employees of MedTrakRx and Tria Health and couldn't happen without the countless volunteers that work for months to prepare for the event.
From the early morning breakfast, to the many contests throughout the day, to the closing ceremonies it is truly a great event.
It was a beautiful Fall day for a round of golf even though it started off a bit overcast. It's a true honor to be invited back year and year to help document the success of this event.
This year a new organization was announced to further the efforts of the Kansas City chapter of FOH. Folds Under Forty is a group of young professionals in the Kansas City area dedicating to supporting the mission of FOH and bringing awareness to an entirely new population.
