Project 52 : Week 24 - Dad

My son's teacher requested a photo of Scott and Landon and honestly I had a hard time finding a "good one" of just them. So I decided that to celebrate Father's Day this year I would take some photos of Scott with the boys. I wanted to practice leading a more relaxed session so it gave me a chance to do that as well. But of course the boys were so bad for me and were pretty much complaining the whole time and just wanted to go to the park. But in the 10 minutes we were there, I did manage to get some fun photos of Scott with each boy and all of them together.

A note about my settings and setup (shot in manual mode).

  1. It was a tight space and I wanted to get the tall grass and the sky in the background so I choose the 35mm again.

  2. I wanted a small aperture so only the boys would be in the focus so I set it at f/2.2.

  3. It was very sunny out so I set the ISO at 160.

  4. The shutter speed varied but on this one it was at 1/800. Because the aperture was so open I was able to keep the shutter speed super fast and not have to worry about motion blur.

  5. Notice how I positioned them in the open shade to avoid the sun spots falling on their faces. They are walking west so the sun was behind me but since they are in the shade the sun was not shining in their eyes.
